The values of the officers and members of the Summit Police Department can be expressed in three words:
We are a department of honorable people who respect the worth of all people, both in our organization and in the public we serve. We do the right thing. We have personal and professional integrity. We do not show partiality or preference for any particular group. We respect the law and we enforce the law within a democratic community.
We are a department that has courage. We have personal courage to go places and do things that may place us in jeopardy. We have courage to take action that may not always be popular but must be done. We accept that not everyone will applaud us or congratulate us but we have the courage to do what we are sworn to do. We have courage to protect the lives, the property, and the rights of those we serve. We are a department of honorable people who respect the worth of all people, both in our organization and in the public we serve.
